Statistical Methods
Course description: Continuation of Math/Stat 231. Expectation, linear regression and correlation, method of least squares and one-way analysis of variance. Testing simple hypotheses using chi-square, t, F, and normal distribution.
This course is the same as Stat 332; no duplicate credit for that course.
Prerequisites: Math/Stat 231, or permission of department head.
Text: Elementary Statistics: A step by step approach by Bluman, 6th edition, McGraw Hill.
Calculator: The Casio 9750G Plus will be used for classroom demonstrations. It is recommended that you check with the instructor before using a calculator other than the Casio 9750G Plus for this class. Some testing will be conducted without the use of the calculator.

Objectives
The student will be able to
- analyze and summarize data;
- conduct hypothesis testing concerning the difference between two population means;
- conduct hypothesis testing concerning the difference between two population variances;
- conduct hypothesis testing concerning the difference between two population proportions;
- construct confidence intervals concerning the difference between two population means and two population proportions;
- perform inference analysis concerning correlation and regression;
- use the chi-square distribution to determine goodness of fit, to test two variables for independence, and test proportions for homogeneity;
- perform analysis of variance (ANOVA);
- use tables (z, t, chi-square, and F) and technology for statistical analysis

Notes:
- In cases of an excused absence, the instructor reserves the right to reweight the final exam in lieu of a make-up test.
- In the case where a student's score on his final exam indicates exceptional achievement above and beyond that indicated by the semester average, the instructor reserves the right to reweight the value of the final exam in computing the semester grade.
